Divorce Mediation may not Work for All Couples
A lot of attention has been given to alternative methods of resolving couples’ divorce issues. One of these methods is divorce mediation. However, as many Utah couples may already know, the use of a mediator may not work in all cases.
Take Kris and Bruce Jenner for example. When the couple married back in 1991, Bruce was reported to be worth in the neighborhood of $100 million dollars and shares two daughters with Kris who were born during this marriage. Kris has four children from a previous marriage who still carry the Kardashian name. It is this name that Kris and her daughters have built a reality television show fortune from and not from Bruce’s motivational speaking tours, product endorsements or his aviation sales business.
It has recently been announced that the couple will divorce, but not until the family’s reality show has concluded because the drama of a messy divorce could possibly kill the show. It has been reported by insiders that if the couple does indeed file for divorce that Kris will fight for everything she can. It has been revealed that the Jenners did not have a prenuptial agreement prior to their marriage. Therefore, Kris Jenner’s considerable fortune may now be in jeopardy. For this reason she has advised her daughters not to make the same mistake she did.
Having a prenuptial agreement prior to marriage can be beneficial to avoid the often emotional details such as asset and property division in divorce court. Divorce mediation can provide relief if the couple can come to an amicable agreement. However, for couples who cannot work through their differences, they may need to litigate the divorce in a Utah court of law.
